Let Us Fill You In!
At Pond Performance, our initial athletic therapy assessment is designed to get to the root of your injury, movement limitations, or performance concerns. Whether you're dealing with a nagging issue, recovering from an injury, or looking to optimize your movement, our thorough assessment process sets the foundation for your rehab and recovery plan.
What to Expect in Your Assessment:
1️. Medical & Injury History Discussion
We start with a detailed conversation about your health and injury history. This helps us understand:
The nature of your injury or pain (when it started, how it happened, what makes it better/worse).
Your training load and movement patterns.
Any previous injuries or surgeries that may contribute to your current issue.
2️. Movement & Functional Assessment
Next, we assess how your body moves through:
Range of Motion (ROM) Testing – Checking flexibility, joint mobility, and movement restrictions.
Strength Testing – Identifying muscle imbalances and weaknesses.
Functional Movement Screening – Watching how you perform key movements to pinpoint biomechanical issues.
3️. Hands-On Assessment & Palpation
Using manual therapy techniques, we evaluate:
Soft tissue restrictions, muscle tightness, or joint dysfunction.
Areas of tenderness or inflammation.
Postural imbalances and alignment issues.
4️. Initial Treatment & Rehab Plan
Based on our findings, we begin hands-on treatment (if appropriate), which may include:
Manual therapy (soft tissue release, joint mobilizations).
Taping or bracing for support and stability.
Modalities (ice, heat, or other therapeutic tools as needed).
Exercise prescription – Custom rehab exercises to improve mobility, strength, and stability.
5️. Next Steps & Recovery Plan
Before you leave, we provide a personalized action plan to:
Reduce pain and improve movement.
Address strength imbalances and prevent further injury.
Support long-term recovery and performance goals.
